What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic corrects misalignments in the spine and releases spinal joint restrictions. This helps you in your everyday life, because you feel an improvement in your mobility, balance, and coordination, and even an elimination of pain. It also improves the function of your nervous system (the network that includes the brain, which is in charge of your body) and this allows your body to feel and work well. More information here.

How can I benefit from Chiropractic care?

Chiropractic improves your body's mobility and functionality. It's also drug-free pain relief. Patients who have gone through Chiropractic care experience improvements in non-pain based symptoms like improved circulation, mood, and sleep.

Those who are into sports report that their body is more optimized for physical activity and injury prevention. Seniors also share that it helps with spine preservation and adds to their mobility.

What conditions does Cancio Chiropractic usually treat?

Aside from the common back and neck pain, we also treat headaches and sporting injuries like shoulder pain, knee pain, ankle sprains, and others.

We also address posture correction, especially in kids or in patients with work that involves a lot of screen time and sitting down, which affects posture. More information here.

If I don't have any pains, can Chiropractic still help me?

Definitely! Because Chiropractic improves how your body functions, anyone who goes through Chiropractic feels an improvement in their quality of life.

What can I expect on my first visit?

When you arrive, you will fill out a form for your complete health history. You may bring all relevant records like X-rays or MRIs. Then, your individualized treatment plan will begin with a consultation with Dr. Cancio. Based on this initial consultation, it will be recommended that you go through one or a combination of the following treatments:

  • Spinal adjustment

  • Physiotherapy

  • Myotherapy

  • Physical therapy or rehab

  • Clinical Pilates

  • Kinesio Tape (KT)

  • Cold Laser Therapy

The average length of an initial treatment program is 4 to 6 weeks. The number of treatments per week vary depending on what was discussed during your consultation, the severity of your condition, and your treatment goals. Referrals to other healthcare specialists may also be made. After the initial treatment program, a reevaluation will be done together with Dr. Cancio.

How long does a session take?

For new patients, a visit is at least an hour to allot time for filling out your health history and going through your assessment with our Chiropractic specialist, Dr. Anton Cancio. After the initial session, the average session is around 30 to 45 minutes. If the patient has more concerns, some treatments can go up to two hours.

What happens in a Chiropractic or spinal adjustment?

A manual spinal adjustment is done to correct or realign the spine and add mobility to stiff joints. A cracking sound is usually heard. This is called a "joint cavitation" and it's gas being released from your joints.

What is Myotherapy?

Myotherapy is a problem-focused, clinical, and deep tissue therapeutic massage that targets specific areas in the muscle. Unlike a spa massage, it’s not designed for relaxation. Myotherapy complements Chiropractic, because the muscular system plays a supporting role to the human spine. Healthy muscles not only allow the body to move more efficiently, they also help maintain good blood circulation.

Cancio employs its own signature Myotherapy technique, developed by Dr. Anton Cancio himself. It’s a soft tissue technique that combines manual therapy and massage techniques. based on experience working with athletes and alongside massage therapists in the U.S.

What is Kinesio Tape (KT)?

Kinesio Tape is a latex-free, hypoallergenic elastic tape. The KT taping method, which can only be used by certified practitioners, is used to reduce pain and inflammation, promote blood circulation, and support injured muscles and joints through movement.

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold Laser therapy is low-level light therapy, a passive treatment modality that uses photobiostimulation to increase cellular metabolism, repairing damage and healing injuries at a faster rate.

What should I wear for my appointment?

Anything that's comfortable for you! We also have patient gowns if you want to change.

Does Chiropractic care hurt?

No. Most of our patients report immediate relief. In some cases, you might feel some discomfort the next day, but not pain. It goes away in a day or two.

How often do I need to go back?

The length of your program depends on your treatment goals together with Dr. Cancio’s recommendations.
