For Families
We don’t usually think of Chiropractic as a family affair—
until we understand how much it helps families going through different circumstances: from the mom who’s breastfeeding, to the child suffering from poor posture, to the dad experiencing the occupational hazards of working from home. Not-so-fun fact: Low back pain is, historically, the top reason employees give when they call in sick at work.
Chiropractic for Parents
Integral to good parenting is self-care. Many parents are quick to talk about the many rewards of parenting, but are often reluctant to discuss the toll it takes. But parents, as the lead examples of their households, have to remember that when they’re at their best, it encourages their children to be at their best, too. As inevitable role models, healthy parents inspire healthy kids.
We might have heard that Chiropractic helps release tension on the spine and prevents injuries. To express that as a tangible lifestyle reward, Chiropractic helps parents stay active and mobile to care for and keep up with their children. Since it’s also a drug-free treatment, Chiropractic has become an effective, non-drug-based relief for parents suffering from headaches and other pains. Parents who come to our clinic mention that they feel less compressed, less heavy, and that they simply “feel better”—they’re less irritable, stronger, and more productive.
Chiropractic for Kids
A lot of children are living a more sedentary lifestyle. This is one of the effects of our digital world, where kids attend school online or use gadgets for entertainment. This unfortunately leads to poor posture and decreased physical social interaction, which can, unknowingly, be a source of stress and pressure for kids. Though single events will not in themselves cause major spinal injury, repetitive stress will have major consequences as they accumulate over time. By having spines checked early, problems can be corrected before back and neck pain develop, and postural imbalances become permanent.
The kids we usually see in Cancio Chiropractic show signs of poor posture, have scoliosis, experience head, neck, and back pains, or participate actively in sports.
FAQs from Parents for Kids
How can I tell if my child has spinal problems?
Observe your child. There are some obvious signs that point to spinal issues, which include: poor posture, restricted head or neck movement to one side, one shoulder being higher than the other, frequent headaches, and scoliosis. Some less obvious signs are irritability, moodiness, low energy, and an inability to concentrate. Children can’t often express that they’re not feeling 100%, so observing their behavior and actions is key.
Will Chiropractic care hurt my child?
In general, Chiropractic treatment of children is painless, except in some cases where the child has an injury and some discomfort can occur when moving the injured parts. Most parents report that their children enjoy their spinal adjustments at Cancio Chiropractic, and that they look forward to their next visit.
How long will a treatment plan take?
A child’s spine generally responds much faster to treatments than adults, and they often require only a few adjustments to restore their normal function. The actual number of adjustments, however, will vary depending on the child’s unique case.
What risks are involved?
The risk of a child suffering permanent injury from a spinal adjustment is extremely rare. Chiropractors have been adjusting children’s spines for over a hundred years and have an excellent safety record.
